Singer and actress Uhm Jung-hwa has been operated for thyroid cancer, it emerged Wednesday. Uhm found out that she had cancer during regular medical check-up this spring and immediately had an operation at a university hospital.Uhm's management agency Sim Entertainment said she is now healthy and has fully recovered. "She regularly visits a hospital in Gangnam for routine check-ups following a full recovery," a spokesman said.Thyroid cancer is one of the most slowly developing types of cancer with one of the highest prospects of a full recovery.Uhm appears as a judge on Mnet's "Superstar K2," a Korean version of "American Idol."
